Happily, I report good news...Yesterday, Deepika called to let me know that Jevesh continues to be the miracle blessing that he is, fighting, and amazing doctors...his recovery is going well enough that they are moving him to the Intermediate Intensive Care Unit (IICU)...he is still in intensive care, however, this move is indicative of his improvement. Deepika remains hopeful that they will allow her to take him home for a short time before he must undergo his next surgery (for which no date will be set, rather, his condition monitored...when his oxygen saturation levels begin to maintain lower levels, that will be the signal that doctors will need to procede with their next course of action).
Stay Tuned...I took some wonderful pics and videos this last weekend...they take a little while to load...but they will be worth the wait...in a word...ADORABLE!
Please, as always, feel free to leave your questions, comments, well wishes, blessings, prayers, etc on the blog...Deepika checks it daily and is reading your comments...Thank you all for your support, prayers, etc.
God bless you Jevesh!
ReplyDeleteGlad to know that he is fine and doing well. Jevesh is going through a lot and we all know that he is very strong and brave boy like his dad. Soon he will beat all the odds and bloom like a flower.
By any chance, did doctor confirm any reason for this episode? Was there any mistake during the surgery? What is the guarantee that this will not happen again?
There were no mistakes with the surgery and there are no guarantees that this might not happen again. Unfortunately, this situation is not entirely uncommon, fortunately, doctors were prepared and acted quickly. It was also fortunate that this did not happen closer to the time after surgery, which could have resulted in a far more serious situation.
ReplyDeleteThe doctors have spoken with Deepika regarding risks and issues with the gastrostomy tube and are working with her to ensure she is familiar with what she may need to do if such an emergency should arise.
Eventually, the doctors will replace the external tube with an entry port, called a MIC-Ke (not sure of the proper spelling, however, it is pronounced like mickey). It will function like an entry with a snap lid that can open and close. This will ensure that Jevesh can receive the proper amount of nutrition and minimize his risk of infection, especially if he should have problems feeding orally. This gastrostomy solution is somewhat long term. Jevesh will likely have to maintain this feeding port until he is 2-3 years of age (as he will likely have a surgery on his heart around this time period).
Take Care
Thank you for the up-date and additional information to understand Jevesh's condition, really appreciated!!
ReplyDeleteWell this all doesn't sound very good. Deepika must educate herself on all the aspect related to his condition so that she is absolutely ready and knows what to expect if something happens(I pary not) in future.
God Bless YOu.
...anxiously waiting for Jevesh's pictures and video:)
